6 Questions with Karen Lewis
Karen Lewis, Salmat Head of Digital and Digital + Technology Collective Vice Chair
1. What gets you up in the morning?
The feeling of making a difference, no matter how small. Also the opportunity to learn something new every day.
2. What are you most excited about in the digital and tech space?
There is so much to be empowered by at the moment. Beginning my career in web dev and then early online advertising so much has changed at such a velocity. We now have AI and VR can aid experiences we would never have thought of less than a decade ago. We can design to put the user at the center of everything and that's exciting and an interesting shift in dynamics. This is the most amazing time to be in the industry, the rise of inventors and builders everywhere to make things better.
3. If you were a piece of technology, what would you be?
I think I would be a 3D printer, that way my ideas can literally be brought to life, literally lol
4. What's your favourite quote/proverb/saying/mantra?
Never make yourself less just so someone can feel like they are more
5. Music: what's at the top of your playlist?
My go-to is always the Manic Street Preachers, more their early stuff to be honest. Generation terrorists is one of the most incredible albums.
6. Look into your crystal ball - what do you see?
A better future where people are working together to achieve awesome things rather than it being about ego. Call me an idealist but I think we could solve so many problems if we just worked together more. Technology is an enabler but people’s imaginations are what will power invention.
